Application Working Group Details
The Application working group has developed the standard for home loan applications. The parties to the application standard are lenders and loan writers (including the lender's staff and third party brokers).
This working group developed the standard for residential mortgage applications, the Credit Application Language (CAL). This standard is already widely used - by the vast majority of lenders and by most brokers. CAL was the first standard developed by LIXI.
The current or most recent CAL standards for request and response is 1.5, incorporating support for attachments to both the loan application and the backchannel status message.
The previous CAL standard for requests is 1.4a, incorporating support for non-conforming loan applications and the anti-money-laundering requirements. The most recent previous CAL for conforming loan applications (incorporating the anti-money-laundering requirements) is 1.3a. Both versions utilise the CAL 1.3a response schema although they can both use the 1.5 response schema at the lender's discretion.
Note that the standards developed by this group relate to loan application submission. Standards relating to electronic status messages (indicating the progress of the loan application) are developed by the Back Channel working group.
