About LIXI IP
Intellectual Property
LIXI standards contain intellectual property that is developed in conjunction with the LIXI members in the LIXI working groups.
Licensing is required for all companies utilising the LIXI standards as part of their business processes, this includes lenders sending and receiving electronic lodgements and performing LIXI-based straight-through processing as well as aggregators, valuation firms and mortgage insurers who participate in the electronic processes. Software developers and service providers that develop or market LIXI-based products and services to their clients are also required to hold a LIXI license.
The LIXI standards are not open source, nor are they free. The Standards can only be utilised through the annual licensing program. The cost of the licenses has been kept at a very affordable level, with categories and tiers appropriate to all levels of businesses in the lending chain. The top tier of comprehensive license is designed for lenders, software and service providers with national scope and who utilise several packages; this includes all the major banks, EDS, Genworth, NextGen.Net etc. The other categories and tiers of license are noticeably more affordable for industry- or location-specific usage.
The license application and the end user license agreement can be downloaded from the membership page
Within the Working Groups, member must give LIXI permission to use any contributions to the standards on an ongoing basis. This permission is granted through agreement to the IP Policy, also available for download from the membership page along with the membership application.
