LIXI™ @ Work

Welcome

AGM’s take place every year and they are a vehicle to inform members of past performance and future goals. This year’s AGM was special as it was the first AGM that attracted Director elections and the passing of two resolutions.

The atmosphere of the AGM was charged with positive energy as Director candidates and a record number of LIXI Members engaged in discussions about the future of LIXI. Key topics were the structure of LIXI’s membership, finances and what parts of the industry and the LIXI Roadmap we should concentrate on next.

The election process saw 3 new directors join the Board and 7 existing Directors re-elected, you can find details of all the Directors for 2006 later in this issue. The two Board proposed resolutions, which were covered in detail in the last issue, were also passed with a strong majority following a detailed discussion of their pro’s and con’s.

For 2006, we can look forward towards a more focused membership base that will take a dynamic role in extending the LIXI standard. We will have assistance from NICTA in a joint project to define a reference lending model that we can all use to benchmark our performance and adoption of LIXI. Pending a successful outcome from our ITOL government grant application we will also complete the much needed CAL documentation project.

As the new year approaches, so does the 2006 membership renewal phase. We plan to have the 2006 Tax Invoices issued to full members in December and urge you to get your finance department to pay as soon as possible. It is much better to concentrate our efforts in developing LIXI rather that chasing up any accounts department.

In the new year, the Board will also release a new mechanism via the LIXI web site to register and keep track of all the people and organisations that want to be informed about LIXI events and progress but are not ready for full membership yet. As a parting thought we want you to keep in mind that everyone is welcome to subscribe to the LIXI newsletters and attend any of the General and Annual meetings throughout the year.

So keep well and we will see you all in Melbourne on March 16 at our first General Meeting for 2006.
