There is a substantial level of activity currently being undertaken
by the Technical Sub-committee. The highlights are listed below.
LIXI Roadmap
The Technical Sub-committee is currently undertaking a comprehensive
review of the current LIXI Roadmap and associated documents.
Keep an eye out for a new release in the near future – and
keep in mind that the Roadmap is intended to reflect your opinions
of what LIXI should be doing, so feel free to make suggestions
at any time. Suggestions can be sent to any or all of the following:
LIXI documentation
As an aspect of the updating of the Roadmap and related documents
we are looking at all of the documentation published by LIXI
with a view to improving what we’ve got and plugging
any gaps. Feedback and suggestions are welcome (to Nick or
Barry at the above addresses).
Product Working Group
Deciding how to express product information in a standardised
way is one of those tasks that looks simple enough but that
is surprisingly complex once you get into the details. The
Product Working Group has unquestionably presented some new
challenges, not least to our record of always making decisions
by group consensus. The Working Group members thoroughly deserve
our recognition and thanks for their persistence and for the
open-minded approach they have collectively brought to the
problem. It has taken a lot of effort but we do appear to be
making real progress now, with the focus currently on validating
possible product definition models against real-world examples.
Loan Servicing Working Group
A draft scope of works for the Loan Servicing Working Group
has been published on the LIXI website and comments are welcomed
from any members. Future publications and notices about meetings
will only be sent to members who have subscribed to the Loan
Servicing WG so if you are interested in this area of LIXI’s
work please visit the group in Pageseeder and sign yourself
up.
Business Process Working Group
The LIXI/NICTA Business Process group is creating a formal
reference model for loan processing. Version 1.0 of the LIXI/NICTA
Process Handbook has been published and is available in the
Business Process Working Group on the LIXI website. At this
stage the model is fairly limited but it’s a great start
and work is continuing to improve and extend it. The more input
we can get from members the better the model will be so if
you haven’t done so already please take the time to sign
up to this Working Group and start contributing.
Implementation Working Group
The Implementation Working Group is tasked with making recommendations
about the best ways to implement LIXI standards. Historically
we haven’t tried to mandate how this is done as it is
recognised that our members have to work within the constraints
of their existing systems but some level of guidance is widely
seen as worthwhile. The major output of this Working Group
has been the LIXI Implementation Guidebook but this was last
published some time ago now and it is clearly time for an update.
Keep an eye out for notification of a meeting to restart this
Working Group – the goal will be to dramatically improve
the Implementation Guidebook to make LIXI implementations significantly
more straightforward for our members.
