LIXI
LIXI is about to complete another revolution around
the sun and that means it is time to start preparing for the
November 24 AGM and Board elections.
As you know, the LIXI Board serves for one year starting
from the conclusion of the current year’s AGM. The process
is well documented in the LIXI
constitution which is available
for download, but I thought it is best to take a few paragraphs
to outline the process anyway.
Starting with this newsletter,
we open the nominations for Board Director positions from all
members. If you are interested and want to help shape the direction
and future of LIXI we encourage you to download and complete
a nomination form from the LIXI website. You then need to get
it seconded by another member. Please make sure that you are
the authorised LIXI representative for your company and that
the person seconding your nomination is also the authorised
LIXI representative of their company. Each full member may
only nominate one person but may second more than one nomination.
The cut-off for all the nominations is close of business
Wednesday 25 October 2006. The Board will not accept late or
invalid nominations so please make sure you lodge the application
on time. After the cut-off, we will compile a list of nominees
and communicate it to all registered LIXI email addresses.
This year we are asking each candidate to include a brief
paragraph explaining why they want to join the LIXI Board and
what their primary focus will be. We hope this information
will help with the voting process.
The voting process will take place on the day of the AGM
(24 November) and the results of the vote will be announced
prior to the close of the AGM. The selection process identifies
the first 10 candidates with the highest number of votes. These
candidates will make up the next Board and take LIXI though
another year of productive work.

LIXI August 2006 GM Update
LIXI staged the second annual update event for members using
a more informal and networking-centric approach. The theme
of the event was the launch of the LIXI DVD and an update on
the LIXI survey and the draw for the prizes.
The LIXI survey provided valuable feedback to the Board to
help formulate the strategic direction for LIXI in 2007. An
outline of the survey results will be provided at the AGM in
November. The general take-away message from the survey was
for LIXI to keep delivering as we have done in the past and
for the time being to concentrate on the residential mortgage
industry.
The key theme of the update was the launch of the second
LIXI DVD. Following in the footsteps of the earlier LIXI DVD,
LIXI members sought to articulate in a visual way the issues
faced in the commissions, products, valuations and communications
space.
The sketches, utilising scripts taken from real world events,
were unanimously praised for their relevancy and accuracy of
representation of day to day issues faced by most participants.
The intention of the LIXI sketches is that they will be used
to create and expand awareness of these issues and motivate
the industry to come together to design robust solutions based
on LIXI standards to address them.
