LIXI™ @ Work

Technical Sub-committee report

At the July 8 LIXI General Meeting we will be formally announcing the release of the latest version of CAL (Version 1.3), offering both a simpler schema based on the new LIXI architecture plus an extensive range of field-level enhancements. Alongside CAL we are also releasing new standards covering valuations, settlements, title insurance and commissions reporting. As always our aim has been to deliver tools to facilitate faster, lower cost and more efficient loan processing for our members. Thanks to the diligence and enthusiasm of the various working group participants these new standards are major steps towards the lofty goal of true standards-based, multi-partner Straight Through Processing.

The new standards can already be browsed online on, and downloaded from, the LIXI website – just follow the links to the "The LIXI Standards" from the Members page. While you are there, please take the time to explore our revamped Schema Documentation Tool and Online Business Requirements. These are great resources for our members and will become even more so as we continue to add features and content. Please be aware though that leading up to the formal release we are still working on completing the example instances and requirements references.

Proud as we are of the new releases we know there’s lot more still to be done. Some of you will be aware that a new working group has started up to develop a standard way to describe product features and characteristics. This working group has received strong support and clearly many of our members want a better way to disseminate product-related information. As always any LIXI Full Member is welcome to register as a working group participant – just follow the "Product Discussion" link on the Member’s page. And keep an eye out for upcoming notices regarding other working groups planned for the near future.

To close I’d like to comment briefly on the recent MIAA conference. In past years I’ve endlessly answered the question, "So what’s LIXI then?"but this year that almost never happened. Now the responses were more often, "Yeah, I’ve heard about LIXI. That’s getting really big isn’t it?"

Cool.
