Document Sharing Working Group
LIXI is very pleased to announce that the document sharing working group has been opened for all LIXI members to participate in.
Document Sharing
LIXI members responded very positively to the NextGen presentation on document sharing at the 2009 LIXI Forum. LIXI member organisations have expressed an interest in collaborative document exchange to support mortgage loan applications, particularly in areas such as customer documents to support the application, mortgage application documents, valuations, shared documents for mortgage insurance applications, and documents that support the settlement process. And there are certain to be others.
A NextGen sponsored Evening Series was held in late October to present some more detail on the subject as well as to identify some of the requirements and the business context for document sharing. The indications are that the requirements are well contained and that agreement on the details should be obtained in an efficient manner.
The document sharing is based on well accepted file sharing standards, the LIXI collaborative requirements will not require developing new standards for file transmission, the expressed need is for an agreed way of understanding the nature of the documents being transmitted.
Document Sharing Working Group
LIXI is pleased to support this process and has opened a document sharing working group to gather requirements and collaborate on the details that need agreement, particularly in relation to metadata fields and enumerated value lists. An introduction to the document sharing project is available at http://lixi.org.au/document_sharing and the working group pages are located on pageseeder here. All members are invited and encouraged to participate in the document sharing process, please contact admin@lixi.org.au for access to any of the pages.
Fast Track Standards Development
One really exciting aspect of the document sharing proposal involves a fast-tracked method of agreeing on standards. The doc-sharing API is not an XML schema in the usual LIXI way, and with a significant amount of effort having been invested already, LIXI is supportive of the working group achieving a cooperative solution in a more efficient manner, at their discretion, while still gathering and responding to the requirements of the broader member base.
